when to apply:

We suggest prospective Advanced Diploma students apply for admission approximately three months prior to course commencement. Placement is awarded on creative potential and on a first come first served basis.

course requirements:

To graduate, students must successfully complete all modules of study in their selected course, over a minimum of 2 years.

The full-time program enables students to complete the Advanced Diploma in four semesters consisting of direct learning and work placeapplication. The Certificate IV program allows students to complete the course over four semesters.

how to apply:

To apply you must complete an Application for Admission. On receipt of the completed application, you will be contacted and an Interview arranged at Whitehouse, where in your academic qualifications, portfolio and or entrance exam will be assessed. Parents/guardians of applicants are encouraged to attend the interview. On completion of the interview and further assessment of your application, you may be offered a place in writing. Whitehouse reserves the right to select students for entry to its programs and to make recommendations with regard to the program selection.

how to put a portfolio together:

To be eligible for an offer of place at the Whitehouse Institute candidates have to submit a portfolio of creative and academic work. What we are looking for in your portfolio is your potential, your creativity and your approach to the design industry in general.

When you are putting your portfolio together, remember we want to see what it is YOU bring to your work. Your original thought and how you present it. Take a look at the entrance exams for the various courses and these directions will guide you.

You may use any form of visual material that you wish, in any way you wish. The portfolio must comprise your own work and have been completed in the last two years. It is important to include a diversity of work such as life drawings, still life or sketches of buildings. Fashion students can also include photographs of garments designed and executed by them. Interior Design and Styling & Design Coordination course candidates can include collages that show a feeling for layout, colour, composition and concept/theme. Display your work in an A3 or A4 portfolio folder with headings and a short description of what it is. Also include a short essay (not more than one page) about design inyour field of choice. With your portfolio display, the only limitation you have is your own imagination.

Australian applicants (residing in Australia) are required to present and discuss their portfolio with the Managing Director or course delegate in their Interview for Application.
