FACILITIES
At Whitehouse, design students work across ateliers, studios and computer labs built to mirror the standards of the industry itself. From your first week, you'll be designing, learning the craft, shooting portfolios and presenting work in the same spaces used for critiques, showcases and graduate collections. It's more than a design school - it's a working studio, with every facility built to take you from first sketch to finished collection/portfolio.
Industrial machines, overlockers and dress forms turn these rooms into working ateliers, not classrooms. Students cut, pin and construct garments here the same way a studio floor operates.
Professional lighting, dozens of backdrops and versatile setups give students a professional studio environment to shoot in. From still life, fellow students to professional models, this is where student work is brought to life. Portfolios, presentations and campaign work all start here.
Computer labs run the same Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Indesign, Illustrator, etc) and CAD software (Sketchup & Revit) used across the design industry, from illustration, render and layout work. Students move between hand and digital process here, building files that go straight into portfolios and production.
Large, flexible studios adapts to whatever the timetable needs - lectures, workshops, guest talks or additional class space. The open layout means it can hold a lecture one day and a working studio the next.
Kitchen, comfy seating, room to spread out - this is where you land between classes to decompress, eat a bite, study, or just chill with friends.
Brisbane only: Brisbane students have access to an exclusive on-campus swimming pool and pool house area.
Housed in the Sydney showroom, the French Collection is a physical collection students can handle, study and reference directly. Garments and accessories from the collection are regularly used in Creative Direction & Styling student work. Fashion Design students frequently accessorise their designs with pieces from the collection. Parts of the collection travels to Melbourne and Brisbane for shows.
Built for displaying, showcasing and staging work, on-campus exhibition spaces are home ground for Open House and the annual Graduate Exhibition and Runway Show, where collections and major projects are presented in full to peers, family and industry guests. Student work regularly travels beyond campus too including Melbourne Fashion Week, the Powerhouse Museum and other external fashion shows, venues and showrooms.
