Caroline Reznik's designs have made their way onto Taylor Swift, Shakira, Doja Cat, Rosalía, Cardi B and Kendall Jenner without most of the fashion world knowing her name. Her signature deconstructed lace bodysuits and threaded crystal bralettes have become a favourite among stylists to pop's biggest names. That level of construction, sensual but engineered with real precision, traces back to her training at the Whitehouse Institute of Design.

Ballet first, pattern-cutting second

Reznik grew up immersed in dance and describes her design sense as inseparable from it. She's spoken about how the duality at the heart of a ballet like Swan Lake, softness and hardness, strength and vulnerability, shows up directly in her collections, which pair fragile-looking materials with a strong sense of structure. Balancing those two things is a technical problem as much as a creative one, and it's what drew her toward formal design training.

Building the technical base at Whitehouse

Reznik studied a Bachelor of Fashion Design at the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Sydney, where she developed the tailoring and construction skills that now define her work. She's described the experience as one that made her think in a far more mathematical way about how a garment is built, a shift that gave her the technical vocabulary to execute the intricate, engineered pieces she's now known for: interlocking hoops that drip from the body, crystal strands wrapped in concentric lines, asymmetrical panels held by leather ties. It's precise pattern work that lets those pieces read as delicate while still holding their shape.

That foundation is also what let her label take off in a fairly organic way. She began sharing pieces on Instagram, and the response, first from strangers, then from stylists, snowballed from there.

From Instagram to the Coachella stage

The moment that put Reznik on the industry's radar was Coachella 2022, when Doja Cat's stylist Brett Alan Nelson dressed her in custom Reznik pieces for an "African dystopian fairy" performance concept: a turquoise and burnt orange bodysuit finished with Swarovski crystals and custom Reznik x Timberland boots. Kendall Jenner wore Reznik leather pants at the same festival. Doja Cat returned to Reznik's designs again the following year.

Speaking about working with artists and their creative teams, Reznik has said the collaborations affirm her design process, that the complexity and detail in her construction gives celebrities a way to feel like themselves in the clothes, rather than the other way around. It's a description that only makes sense coming from someone whose technical grounding lets her execute almost anything a stylist's brief calls for.
